Balloon Pop
Divide the children into two or three equal teams. Inflate 20 balloons for each team in different colors (you want to inflate at least six balloons per player on each team). Each team should have the same number of balloons, but in a different color than the other teams. Mix the balloons up and place them in the middle of the room or backyard. When you say, "Pop those balloons," each team must try to pop all of their team's balloons using their hands, feet and bodies. The first team to pop all their balloons wins the game.
No Mess Paint Activity
Cover a table with plastic wrap and spread tempera paint on top of the plastic. Place another layer or two of plastic wrap over the paint, and press down on all the sides to ensure they seal tight. Children can spread the paint and draw pictures in the paint using their fingers. Tell the children to make sure they do not use their fingernails, as this might puncture the plastic. If you do not have paint, you can put shaving cream in between the sheets of plastic wrap.
Star Prize Game
Cut different colored stars out of construction paper and write a number on each one. Tape each star to a different chair, and place the chairs in a circle formation facing out. Write the same numbers on small slips of paper and place the numbers in a bowl. Play music and have the children walk around the outside of the chairs. When the music stops, the children find a chair to sit in. You draw a number from the bowl and the child sitting in that chair wins a small prize, such as stickers, a pencil or candy.
Homemade Play Dough
Make homemade play dough for children to play with as a fun activity. Place 1 1/2 cups of salt in 3 cups of water in a saucepan and cook on medium heat. Add 6 tsp. cream of tarter, 3 cups flour and 3 tbsp. vegetable oil and stir constantly. After a ball forms and begins pulling away from the sides, remove from heat. Once the play dough cools, give each child some play dough to knead for at least two minutes. He can add a couple drops of food coloring to his play dough while kneading the dough if preferred. After two minutes of kneading, the children can use cookie cutters and other utensils to design the play dough. Place the dough in plastic zipper bags to store.
