Mad Libs Games for Kids

"Mad Libs" is a long-running series of template word games. One player asks for verbs, nouns and adjectives from the others to complete a story without giving the context surrounding the suggested words. The game is often used to help students learn the parts of speech. There are official and unofficial "Mad Libs" titles in print and online.
  1. Books

    • Official books from Penguin come with various themes such as camping, skateboarding, horror movies and space. "Mad Libs" books are generally around 48 pages, and often come with other special features like a free pen or temporary tattoos. Some individual books come in box sets, such as the "Girls Just Wanna Have Mad Libs" set. The books "Diva Girl Mad Libs," "Sleepover Party Mad Libs" and "Mad Libs in Love" make up the "Girls" set.

    Movie Mad Libs

    • Penguin also publishes numerous "Mad Libs" books with themes based on child-friendly movies and television shows. "Avatar: The Last Airbender," "iCarly," "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Megamind" and "Shrek Forever" were among the topics as of 2011.

    Online Imitatators

    • Some online sites follow the "Mad Libs" format but are not official "Mad Libs" products from Penguin. These imitations often have names that sound like Mad Libs, such as Word Libs and Mad Glibs. Some sites, such as It's a Mad Libs World, invite users to submit their own templates.

    Printable Mad Libs

    • Sites with free, printable word template games suited to kids include Teach-nology, Family Education and Classroom Jr. While these provide easy access to "Mad Libs" games, as of 2011 each site had a limited amount of templates. The printed books still had the largest number of games.
