Musical Balloons
Inflate several balloons and scatter enough balloons on the floor for each player to have one. Remove one balloon and play music. Tell the children to move and dance around the balloons while the music plays. When the music stops, the children must grab a balloon. The child who does not have a balloon is out of the game. Remove one balloon and keep playing. The last person holding a balloon wins the game and earns a small prize.
Animal Charades
Write down the names of several animals, such as cow, pig, chicken, snake and dog, on index cards. Mix the cards up and put them in a bowl. Have one child draw an index card from the bowl. He must act out the animal using movements and sounds. The first child to guess what animal he is portraying earns a point. At the end of the game, the child who has the most points wins.
Mouse Trap
Divide the children into two groups and have half of the group stand in a circle formation. Position the kids about a foot apart and tell them to put their hands by their sides. Play music and have the remaining students run in and out of the circle. When the music stops, the kids in the circle must quickly grab hands and squat down. All children caught inside the "mouse trap" are out of the game. The last player standing wins the game.
Miniature Treasure Hunt
Purchase several prizes, such as small plastic toys, wrapped candy, stickers, jewelry and small stationary sets. Hide the prizes all over a designated area and give each child a small brown paper sack. When you say, "Go," the kids must look for the hidden miniature prizes. Any prize they find, they can put in their bag to keep. Be sure every child gets prizes to take home.
