Easy Inside Games for Children

When facing inclement weather outdoors, fight boredom with easy indoor games for children. From marble games to balloon games, use your imagination to create games using various supplies from around your home. Keep your kids away from video games and the television by providing games that encourage physical and creative skills.
  1. Balloon Bump

    • Inflate balloons and tell your kids to try to keep the balloon in the air using their hands. Give them a few minutes to practice. See who can keep a balloon in the air the longest without it hitting the ground. Then switch and see who can keep the balloon in the air using only their feet.

    Marbles

    • Children need a plastic cup, rubber band, napkin or paper towel and marbles to play this game. Pull the napkin apart so it is only one-ply and dab it with water. Stretch the napkin over the top of the cup and use the rubber band to hold it in place. Children take turns putting a marble on the napkin. The player who adds the marble that breaks the napkin loses the game.

    Obstacle Course

    • Make an indoor obstacle course using towels, chairs, yarn or string and furniture. Create different obstacles for children to complete. Create a tummy obstacle by tying a string between two pieces of furniture for the children to crawl under on their belly or create a balance beam by rolling up a towel. If you have several children, divide them into teams to see who can complete the course the fastest.

    Dancing Statues

    • Play music and have the children dance around the room. When the music stops, the children must freeze in the exact position they are in and not move. If they move at all, they are out of the game. The last player standing wins the game.

    Animal Guess

    • Write down several animal names on index cards, such as an alligator, a bird, a pig, a fish and a cow. Mix the cards up and tape an animal card to a player's forehead without him seeing it. The player has 20 questions to use to ask the other players about his animal. All questions must be yes or no questions. After 20 questions, he must take a guess at what animal he is. If he guesses the animal name correct, he earns one point. If he guesses his animal correctly before the 20 questions, he earns two points. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
