Picnic or Tea Party
Have an indoor picnic by putting a large outdoor tablecloth in the middle of the living room floor. Eat your lunch or dinner on the tablecloth "picnic-style." Young girls might find an indoor tea party even more interesting. Put a small pitcher of tea on the table along with several cups and saucers. Place small plates of crackers and sliced cheese on the table. The kids can serve everyone a small cup of tea, crackers and sliced cheese.
Marbles
Play a game of marbles using a shoebox, markers, scissors and marbles. Turn the shoebox open side up and cut four or five different-sized notches down one of the long sides of the shoebox. The open end of the notches should be facing up. Flip the box over so the open ends of the notches are facing down and use a marker to write a point value above each notch. The larger notches should be lower point values, and the smaller notches should have larger point values. Each player gets five marbles to try to roll into the notches. The player who has the greatest number of points at the end of the game wins.
Homemade Play Dough
Make homemade play dough by mixing 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup salt, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 Tbsp. oil and 1/2 tsp. cream of tarter in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat until it forms a dough mixture. When the mixture cools down, separate it into sections and put it on floured wax paper to knead. Kids can add a few drops of food coloring while they are kneading to make the dough any color they prefer.
Indoor Volleyball
Use a balloon and a piece of yarn to play an indoor game of volleyball. Tie a piece of yarn from one object in the room to another one to create the "net." Blow up a balloon and have at least one player on each side of the net. The object of the game is to use your feet to hit the balloon back and forth over the net. You should be on your back to play.
