Discovery Education's Puzzlemaker
Visit Discovery Education's Puzzlemaker website (see Resources) from a computer that has access to a printer.
Choose a title for your crossword puzzle that demonstrates the major theme of your crossword puzzle and enter the title into the first blank field. For example, if you are creating a crossword puzzle about the solar system, the crossword puzzle could be titled "Our Solar System."
Determine the size of your crossword puzzle. If you would like to use a lot of words in your puzzle, a larger size would be best. If you are working with younger children, a smaller size puzzle would be best.
Input the words and clues that will make up your crossword puzzle into the fourth field on the website. A good word for a solar system themed crossword puzzle is "Earth," which would then be followed by the clue "Third planet from the sun."
Click the "Create My Puzzle" button and view your puzzle. If you are satisfied with the puzzle, print it. If you are not satisfied, you can go back and change some of the specifications you entered for the crossword puzzle.
