How to Make Your Own Jumble

A word jumble, also known as a word scramble, can provide a way to exercise your brain. In a word jumble, a person is given a list of words. Each word appears with the letters out of the correct order. Those completing the puzzle must rework the letters to form the correct word. Whether you are a teacher who wants to create a fun puzzle for your class or someone who wants to make a puzzle for a friend, making a jumble is an easy task.

Instructions

  Make a list of the words you plan to use in the jumble. Write it down or type it up on your computer.

  Search the Internet for websites which offer the service of creating a jumble. A number of websites offer this for free. You simply enter in the words and print out the scrambled results for people to solve.

  Scramble each word yourself, if you choose not to use one of the free websites. Use your original word list as the answer key. Write each scrambled version of the word next to the correct spelling.

  Write or type the scrambled words. Next to each word, place a number of blank, underlined spaces equal to the number of letters in the word. This is for the person solving the word jumble to write the answer.
