Quick, Fun Activities for Kids

Entertaining children can be a difficult task, especially if the kids you are with become bored easily. If you are a babysitter, you will want to keep the kids entertained so they stay out of trouble. If you are a parent, you will want to keep your kids active so they do not become hooked on television. There are several quick, fun activities to entertain any kids.
  1. Hide-and-Seek

    • Hide-and-seek is a classic children's game that can be played indoors or outdoors. You need at least two people to play this game. The person who is seeking must close his eyes and count to a certain number. While that person is counting, the other person must hide. Once finished counting, the seeker should announce "Ready or not here I come" before looking for the person. Have the kids take turns alternating roles. Hide-and-seek can be played almost anywhere and does not require you to spend any setup time, so this activity is both quick and fun for you and the kids involved.

    Walk Around the Neighborhood

    • Sometimes, kids get couped up in the house and need some fresh air. Take your kids out for a walk around the block. If your kids have bicycles or roller skates, allow them to ride instead of walk. Use this time to socialize with your kids, asking about school and friends. This can also be used as a chance to get your kids to open up about things that may be bothering them. You can share stories about your own childhood as well. Sometimes going for a walk is one of the few times that we are not occupied with electronics such as televisions, computers or cellphones. It also allows you and your kids to get some exercise in a quick and fun activity.

    Trivia

    • Trivia is an entertaining game that engages the mind. All you need to create a trivia game is note cards and a reference guide. Write questions about your kids' favorite books and cartoon shows, and write the answers on the back of the cards. This can also be a fun way to help kids study for an exam. If a child is alone, she can quiz herself using the answers on the back to see if she is write. If you have a group of children, divide them into teams and have them compete against one another--the team that answers the most questions wins. If you do not have time to create trivia cards, you can create questions on the spot or play a guessing game. This makes the activity even quicker. Either way, this activity is fun entertainment for kids.
