Frisbee Games for Kids

Playing with a Frisbee remains a favorite pastime for anybody who likes to spend hours outdoors throwing and chasing these bright-colored discs. Extremely portable and affordable, Frisbee games can encourage cooperative play and physical activity for all kids, no matter their ages or athletic ability. Whether using an old lot, vacant ball field, or the beach, play Frisbee games with your kids for great group games.
  1. Frisbee Soccer

    • Use cones to mark off a Frisbee soccer field. Divide the kids into two teams, each defending their own goal. Toss a coin to see which team will first play offense. The defense must throw the Frisbee to the offense to start play. The offense should run to pick up the Frisbee, and then start throwing it to their teammates to move the Frisbee close to the goal. No team player should run with the Frisbee or stand holding it more than 10 seconds. The defense can intercept a throw or pick it off the ground if someone misses a throw. Then they become the offense trying get the Frisbee down the field for a goal. Teams score by making the Frisbee land in the opposite team's goal.

    Frisbee Golf

    • Decide on a series of targets to play a golf group game with a Frisbee. Six to eight objects will make a long enough game for a group. If each person cannot use their own Frisbee, group the kids into teams and provide each team with one Frisbee and four markers to hold their spots. Aiming at the object, each player should try to throw the Frisbee as far as they can on the first try. Mark the spot so the player can stand behind that spot to make his next shot. If playing as teams, mark the spot of the first player and allow the next one to make a throw. Designate one player to tally the number of throws it takes each player to hit the object with the Frisbee. The player with the fewest number of throws, wins.

    Frisbee Marathon

    • Mark out a course for your kids to run a race while throwing a Frisbee. For a longer race, allow each runner to have her own Frisbee. For shorter races, time the runners as they individually go through the course. Create a circuitous route to challenge your kids more. Each runner should start the race by throwing the Frisbee as far as they can along the route. They then should run as fast as they can, pick up the Frisbee and throw it again to keep racing. They repeat this until they reach the finish line. If the Frisbee goes far off the course, they should run to pick it up and return to their starting position before trying another throw. The one with the fastest time wins the race.
