Games for 11 Year Old Boys

When you gather a group of energetic 11-year-old boys together, you may need a few ideas up your sleeves for keeping them somewhat orderly. Fortunately, you have plenty of games to choose from to keep the boys entertained. So send your boys out to the yard for some games sure to keep them burning off some pent-up energy.
  1. Catch the Bad Guy

    • Play this high-energy game by first selecting one player to become the Bad Guy. Pick another player to play the Good Guy. All other players become the hapless victims. To start, the Bad Guy counts to 100 while the victims try to find hiding spots. Once he reaches 100, the Bad Guy has to try to tag as many victims as he can. The Good Guy waits for another 30 seconds to give the Bad Guy a head start. Any victims tagged have to stand at a designated area. The Good Guy tries to tag the Bad Guy. If successful, all the victims in the holding zone get to leave and the Good Guy gets a turn playing the Bad Guy. Select another player to be the Good Guy. Continue the game until the boys become tired.

    Three-Corner Tag

    • Try this twist on the classic Tag game by first picking a player to be "It." Divide the rest of the players into teams of three. Each team has to select one of their teammates to become the target. The target wears some sort of marker, such as a post-it note on his back to distinguish him. Tell the teams they have to hold hands throughout the entire game. "It" counts to 10 while the teams head away from him. When "It" reaches 10, he has to try to tag as many targets in every team as he can. The teams meanwhile try to keep "It" from doing so. After a target gets tagged, his team leaves the game. The last team standing wins.

    The Stalker

    • Start this game by first dividing the players into two groups. Situate half of the players in a line so that they stand arm's length apart. Blindfold these players and have them spread out their legs. Place a rock on the ground between their legs, making sure they can't touch the rocks with their feet. The other group of players (the "stalkers") surround the blindfolded players. At your signal, the stalkers creep up to a player of their choice and try to steal the rock between his legs. If a blindfolded player senses a "stalker" close by, he points his finger in the direction of the stalker. If he points directly at the stalker, the stalker switches positions with the blindfolded player. Continue the game until the players have stolen all the rocks.
