Kaladont
Kaldont is a word game, which is popular with children in Croatia. To play, the first player says any word, for example "face". The next player must then come up with a word that begins with the last two letters of the first word, in this case "ce." Perhaps, the second player chooses the word cent. The play then continues until a player is unable to think of a word that meets the qualifications.
Belot
Belot, sometimes just called Bela, is a popular card game througought Croatia, but especially in the Zagreb region. The standard version of the game is played by four players with a 32 card deck, ace through sevens, dealt out in hands of eight. A trump suit is then selected, and players all play on tricks, trying to take as many tricks as possible.
Briškula
Briškula is another popular card game for Croatian children, played with a standard 52 card deck. It can be played with anywhere from two to six players, though a special set of rules is required for a five player game. Each card in the deck is assigned a point value, which is awarded to a player when the card is taken in a trick. The object of the game is to accumulate as many points as possible, by taking tricks of value.
Picigin
Picigin is a popular beach pastime for children on Croatia. It is a variation of water polo, played in the ocean in water that is between ankle and knee deep. Players stand in a circle in the water at various depths and bounce a ball to one another by hitting it with the palm of the hand. The ball cannot be stopped with the hands or thrown to a specific player. The game is for relaxation only and is not considered competitive.
