Feed Your Puppy
Draw a large picture of a puppy and leave the puppy&'s mouth open wide by making a large hole in the paper. Give the girls dog bones. The girls toss the bones into the puppy&'s mouth from several feet away. The girl who gets the most bones into the dog&'s mouth wins.
Doggie Rescue
Set up an obstacle course with chairs to crawl under, hoops to jump through, and ramps to climb over. Put a toy dog at the end of the obstacle course. The girls run through the obstacle course and rescue the dog. Time their turns. At the end of the game, give each girl an award and tell them how long it took to rescue their dog.
Name That Bark
Take each girl aside and let them bark into a tape recorder (if there is a small number of girls, take them aside several times each). You need a total of at least 10 barks. Give each girl a piece of paper and pencil. Play the barks back and see if the girls are able to guess which bark belongs to which girl.
Trainer Says
Like "Simon Says", the girls line up and pretend to be dogs. The adult is the trainer and give the girls commands such as, "Trainer says sit," or, "Trainer says speak." Use commands such as down, jump, roll over and so forth. Remember to throw in a few commands without the, "Trainer says..." part. Any girl that responds to a command not preceded by, "Trainer says..." is out of the game.
Online Games
For the little girl who wants to play some doggie games on her own, try some dog computer games. These games are available free online. The different games have a range of activities, ranging from caring for virtual pets to dressing up dogs in cute costumes and clothing. See Resources.
