Manhunt
Divide the boys into two teams. Decide where a home base will be set. One team must protect the base from the other team trying to reach it. The base protectors can tag the other team to prevent them from reaching the base. When tagged, players are out for the rest of the game. When anyone from the second team reaches the base, then one of the defending players is out. The game is over when all players from one team are out.
Rooster Fight
This is a fun game for two or more boys. Draw a large circle on the ground. Two boys step into the circle. They then each place one of their legs behind them, holding it in place with one hand. The boys must try to gently push each other out of the ring by hopping closer to the other boy and disrupting his balance. When a boy hops out of the line, or falls, then the other boy is declared the winner.
Greasy Watermelon
This is a game that can be played in the water or outdoors. Grease a watermelon with shortening or oil. Place the watermelon at the center of a defined play area, or in the middle of the pool. Divide the boys into two teams. Each team must try to grab the watermelon and bring it to their end of the pool. Each time the watermelon reaches the end of the pool or play area, a point is scored. Play continues to a predetermined score point (such as 10 points).
Fox and Hound
This game requires a whistle for each fox (one fox per six players) and one other whistle for each hound team. Have one boy per five other boys volunteer to be a fox. Give him one whistle, and give another whistle to the team captain of the hounds. Allow the foxes a five minute start. They run as far as they can in that time period, blowing their whistle every 30 seconds. The hounds must also blow their whistle ever 30 seconds so that the fox can hear their approach. The goal of the game is to catch the fox within a given time period. If the hounds cannot catch the fox, then the fox wins.
Water Relay
Divide the boys into teams of six to ten. Give each boy a paper cup. Give the boy on the end a large empty pitcher. The boy on the other end gets a pitcher full of water. The first boy pours some water into his cup. He then pours his cup into the next boy’s cup. This continues until the last boy pours his cup into the pitcher. The first team to empty the first pitcher into the second pitcher wins.
