Fun Games for Seven-Year-Olds

Keeping a 7-year-old child entertained can be a challenge, but with the variety of games available today, it has never been easier than it is now. Parents have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to finding a game for their 7-year-old, be it a board game, a video game, an online game or otherwise.
  1. Connect Four

    • This classic game first released in 1974 is a perfect challenge for kids age 6 and up, making it ideal for 7-year-olds. In Connect Four, two players face each other and attempt to create some combination of four in a row, whether vertical, horizontal or diagonal. Players take turn putting pieces in one of seven slots to form sequences. The first player to get four pieces in a row of the same color wins.

    Cooking Mama

    • Released on Nintendo DS in 2006, Cooking Mama features several levels of challenging recipes in which the player must perform the action requested in a skillful manner to advance. Players will face common cooking actions such as slicing, dicing, chopping and shredding in an effort to prepare each given recipe to perfection. Cooking Mama received a 7 out of 10 rating on IGN.

    Pool Party Pooper

    • This free online game from Nickelodeon features the cast from "SpongeBob SquarePants" and puts the player in control of SpongeBob, who must protect the locals in Bikini Bottom from the sun as they float in the city pool and keep his sidekick Patrick from disturbing them at the same time. By alternating between sunscreen for the pool users and food to distract Patrick, players must ensure the pool visitors have a good time.

    I Spy

    • For those looking for a game for their 7-year-old to play without relying on technology, I Spy, the guessing game played by families with young children for years, is always a reliable bet. Perfect for car trips or locations that involve waiting, I Spy has a simple but enjoyable premise: find an object in the immediate surroundings and give hints to describe it so that others can guess what it is. For a twist, parents can play an imagination version of I Spy, where the child can pick any object he/she can think of to give hints about.
