Name that Old Lady
With girls around the ages of 11 and 12, try playing this game at a mother/daughter tea party. It will teach them about famous women while giving them the giggles. Let them select one card depicting a famous older lady like Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, "Grandma Moses," Beatrix Potter, Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt or Georgia O&'Keeffe. On the front of the card is their picture as an older lady, while their biography is on the back of each card. Let the girls try to make themselves up or get someone else to do their make-up for them so that they look like one of these ladies. Ask them to present themselves to the mothers and see if they can guess which old ladies their daughters have become. Daughters can give mothers clues from their biography cards The mothers can invite their famous guests to tea.
Old Lady Beauty Pageant
At your next family reunion, play this game. Let all the girls put on old lady make-up, dresses, shoes and hose with garters, and have a beauty pageant. If you want the pageant to be really funny, open it up to anyone who wants to participate, including dads and other boys. Of course, the winner should get a bouquet and a ribbon and her or his picture in all the family albums.
Speed It Up, Old Lady
Put eye liners, rouge, clown white, make-up pencils, and wigs on the table. Ask the contestants to put on their old lady white gloves. The white gloves should be women&'s gloves, not children&'s. They are designed to slow the children down much like old age slows an elderly lady down. When everyone is ready, see which child with the floppy white gloves can get her old lady make-up on the quickest.
