Game Girly
The website Gamegirly.com has a range of photography-based games designed especially for girls. In these games girls get to pretend to be paparazzi and earn points from snapping embarrassing pictures of celebrities. The better the photographs are, the more points or "money" the girls earn. This game teaches girl the importance of speed and accuracy when snapping a photograph. Alternatively on this website, girls can pretend to be private investigators and spy on imaginary characters, snapping pictures of them doing incriminating things.
Find the Differences
This game helps to acquaint girls to the basic principles of Adobe Photoshop or a comparable program. Start the game by having each girl take a digital photograph of her friends grouped together in a particular pose. Upload each photo to a software program that will allow you to do some basic doctoring to the photo, such as erasing things, changing colors, words, and other elements. Let each girl tweak each photo in very slight, subtle ways. Print out each original photo and its doctored pair from a color printer. All the girls have to compare the photos and find the differences. The girl that finds the most differences wins.
Town Discovery
This game is truly a game of discovery as it encourages girls to explore their town and find new and noteworthy places in it. Give each girl a category such a "cafe" or "boutique" or "candy shop" or "toy store." Each girl has 24 hours to find a cafe, boutique, candy shop or toy store that they&'ve never been to before, snap a digital picture of the inside and outside. After 24 hours, girls gather again together and share their pictures. If no one else in the group has been to the place in a particular picture, the girl who took the picture gets a point. While it&'s the girl with the most points who wins, in this particular game, everybody wins because they get to hear about new and exciting places in their town.
