Unwrap the Gift Game
Like the game musical chairs, the gift unwrapping game requires music and a volunteer to stop and start it. Take a small gift and wrap it in several layers of wrapping paper. Assemble a group of children in a circular formation and have them pass around one gift at time while the music plays. Stop the music at 30 second intervals; the child left holding the gift must unwrap one layer of wrapping paper. Restart the music and have the kids continue this procedure until the gift is completely unwrapped. The child who removes the last layer of wrapping paper and reveals the contents is the winner.
Santa Trip
Santa Trip is a fun Christmas game to play with kids, as well as serving as a drill in alphabetical order and memory enhancer. Have the kids sit in a circle; have the first child say, "On Christmas Eve I&'m traveling with Santa and I&'m going to take ..." and name an object that starts with the letter A. The next child must repeat the statement, adding a new object to the end of the sentence that starts with the letter B. Continue the procedure until the kids have completed the entire alphabet. There are no winners or losers in this game, but children may enjoy competing and making up silly objects to bring.
Santa Says
Santa Says is a Christmas-themed variation of the popular children&'s game "Simon Says". Have the children line up in an open space and name one child to be the "Leader Elf". The Leader Elf will call out commands to the players by saying, "Santa says ..." and adding an action to the sentence for the kids to perform such as "... touch your toes". The players should then touch their toes and wait for the next command. If the Leader Elf calls out a command without preceding it with "Santa says" and one or more players obey the command, he must cry out "Ho ho ho!" and the offending player/s must sit down. The last player left standing is declared the winner and becomes the Leader Elf to begin a new round.
