Simple Group Games for Kids

Games are an easy way to keep children busy and engaged. Group games can often help build friendships and boost self-confidence. Today&'s kids are inundated with video games, television shows and the Internet; by encouraging them to participate in active play, you will make sure they exercise their bodies in addition to their minds.
  1. Blob Tag

    • Blob tag is an outdoor game that can be played by kids of all ages; even the grown-ups can join. As in traditional tag, one person is selected to be "it" and begins chasing the other players around until she manages to catch one. Rather than the caught player becoming "it," the two players join hands and chase the other players around until another player is caught. The next player also joins hands with the first two and they continue chasing the others. The game ends when all of the players have been tagged.

    Sardines

    • Sardines is a twist on the traditional game of hide-and-go-seek, and can be played by children of any age. Rather than one person counting while everyone else hides, only one person hides while everyone else closes their eyes. The first person to find the hider, hides with him rather than outing him. Each subsequent person to find the hiding spot joins the players that are already there until all of the players are crammed in like sardines. The last player to find the bunch becomes the next hider.

    Duck Duck Squirt

    • Duck duck squirt is a game that is best played outdoors or on an indoor tile surface. The players sit in a circle, facing its center, and one person is left standing. The person standing is given a water gun and walks around the circle tapping players on the head as he chants, "Duck, duck, squirt." When he says "squirt," he shoots his selected player with the water gun. The person who is squirted then chases the shooter around the circle. The shooter has to try and reach the empty place in the circle before he is tagged.
