Blindfolded Dodgeball
In this game, players work in pairs. One partner wears a blindfold and the other partner must guide the blind one around the field. The object of the game is for the blindfold-wearing partner to pick up a ball (remember to make it a soft one) and throw it at another blindfolded player on the opposite side of the field. The player who can see must tell the blindfolded player where and how to throw and also help him dodge balls from other teams. If a blindfolded player is hit with a ball twice, then his team is out. The game continues until one team is left standing. The partners must draw upon their teamwork skills and rely upon one another in order to win the game.
Scavenger Hunt
A traditional scavenger hunt is a way for small groups of youths to work together and build their teamwork skills. The scavenger hunt concept is fully adaptable to any situation. Youths can search for items that fit a specific category, such as items found in nature or items of a certain color. They can work in pairs or groups of three or four to find their items, working together to form a plan to search for and locate the items on their scavenger hunting list.
Tug of War
In a traditional Tug of War scenario, a group of youths must work together to position themselves along a line and support one another as they try to pull a rope more strongly than an opposing team can do it. Strategy and skill both come into play in the organizing and execution of this teamwork-building activity.
Relay Races
Relay races require youths to cheer each other on and work individually and as a team to compete against their peers. Whether they participate in a sack or three-legged race or they have to balance an egg on a spoon or toss a water balloon to a partner, relay races require team members to communicate with one another and hatch a plan to out-race the competition.
