Clown Face Dinner
Clown Face Dinner is a fun game for young children, especially when a lot of leftovers are available. An adult should take all leftovers out of the refrigerator and place them on a counter for easy access. The idea is to use the available foods to make the funniest clown face possible. For example: two cucumber slices for the eyes, a carrot as a nose, spaghetti as hair, etc. Each player is given five minutes to make the best face she can, using only foods that she will eat.
Waitress
This game is excellent for older children who can safely use the stove and are able to independently cook a few meals. Some basics may include soup (from a can), macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, and fruit salad.
To play, the child must create a restaurant "menu," listing all the items she can cook. Sections of drinks, side dishes, and desserts should also be included. Once the "menu" is finished, the "customers," any adults available to play, sit at the table. The child must then come to the table, equipped with a pen and pad. She should introduce herself as the "waitress" and take drink orders. After serving the drinks, the child-turned-waitress begins taking food orders and prepares them.
Feed The Cookie Monster
In the Feed The Cookie Monster game, children participate in the baking and decorating of cookies, then eat them as a reward.
Adults can set up the game by getting out all necessary ingredients to make cookie dough or by buying pre-made dough. The adult must bake the cookies after the kids have shaped the dough into cookie-sized portions and placed them on the pan. Once the cookies have baked and cooled, the children can decorate them with frosting, sprinkles, and any other sweet treats, before transforming into Cookie Monster and devouring them.
