Disney Restaurant Games for Kids

While visiting a restaurant in Disney World, waiting for food to arrive may seem like forever, especially for children. Younger children especially enjoy doodling on placemats or playing a game of connect-the-dots with a family member. Besides the aforementioned, there is plenty of fun to be had at a Disney restaurant. From Hidden Mickeys to I-spy games, time will pass quickly for your kids while awaiting a meal.
  1. Hidden Mickeys

    • Throughout Disney World and Disney Land, there are many Hidden Mickeys in the parks, resorts and restaurants. A Hidden Mickey is a silhouette of Mickey Mouse hidden in a Disney attraction. The Hidden Mickeys are distinct and proportionate, consisting of one large circle and two smaller circles on top. According to HiddenMickeys.org, the Hidden Mickey concept "started out as an inside joke among the Walt Disney Imagineers."

While waiting at a restaurant, have the children go on a scavenger hunt to find Hidden Mickeys. Many of the Mickeys are hidden on walls, placemats, floors and even ceilings. If a cast member--waiter, waitress or hostess--in the restaurant is not busy, he may be able to help kids find some of these Hidden Mickeys, as the cast is knowledgeable about these, often conducting Hidden Mickey Tours. While they are searching for the Hidden Mickeys, have the kids make a list of where they are located so after dinner you can see what they found.

    I-Spy with a Disney Spin

    • This version is like the classic I-Spy game, except without jumbled pictures. To play, choose a child in your dinner party to begin the game. Have the child look around the restaurant from where he is sitting and have him choose one object that he sees. Once he does this, have him start the game with, "I spy with my little eye...," including hints for the rest of the dinner party. He can give hints like, "I spy something pink," for example, until someone guesses the object. Whomever guesses the item correctly gets to go next.

Disney World&'s Wilderness Lodge Resort Whispering Canyon Experience

    • Located in Disney World&'s Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge Resort&'s Whispering Canyon Cafe is an experience all its own. The restaurant&'s name is an oxymoron, as nothing whispers in this eatery. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant cast plays host to kids&' stick pony derbies and animal calling competitions. Sporadically throughout dinner, cast members call children to the front of the restaurant to participate in these events, making the restaurant a raucous, giggle-filled space.

When group games are not occurring, cast members will ask kids to help with the "ketchup run," which involves a kid delivering all of the ketchup bottles in the restaurant to a dinner party that asked for ketchup. Or, they will help kids make napkin hats and animals for keepsakes.

Additionally, there are Lincoln Logs available for kids to build with, so the fun never seems to stop, no matter what age you are.
