Cool and Fun Games for Boys

Many young boys enjoy the thrill of competition by pitting themselves against buddies to find who among them has superior strength and skill. However, competition can sometimes lead to bitterness among children. Playing cool games designed to give the boys a fun time lessens the feelings of resentment if a player loses.
  1. Lying in Wait

    • Gather the boys outside, preferably a wooded area, as recommended by Ultimate Camp Resource. Divide the group into two teams and set up a base point where the players can go to be safe from their enemies. Select one team to head into the wooded area to find a hiding spot. While they move further and further into the woods, they leave behind small objects like rocks or bread crumbs to give the other team a trail to follow. After about five minutes passes, the other team leaves, using the trail to find their hiding enemies. Meanwhile, the first team waits in their hiding spot. Once the first team spots the second team, they reveal themselves and chase their enemies back toward the base point, tagging as many enemy players as they can. Once a player gets tagged, he joins the enemy team. Allow the second team to have their turn at an ambush after everyone gets to the base.

    American Eagle 1-2-3

    • Begin by selecting two players to stand in the middle of a large play area. Position the rest of the players on one side of the area, lining them up side by side about 10 feet away from the middle. When you say "Go," the boys on the side all race to the other side of the yard, avoiding the boys in the middle. Meanwhile, the boys in the middle try and catch the other players running to the opposite side of the yard. Once a middle player grabs hold of another player, he attempts to lift his opponent off the ground for as long as it takes to yell "American Eagle 1-2-3." If he succeeds, the players who were picked up become part of the middle and perform the same function. The game continues with the boys racing back and forth until only one player—the winner—remains.

    Blind Squirt

    • Prepare by sectioning off a circular area on the ground using a rope or water hose. Select one of the boys to stand in the middle of the circle. Blindfold him and give him a filled water gun. Then, tell the rest of the boys to stand inside the boundaries of the circle. They have to remain as quiet as they can to avoid getting squirted by the blindfolded player and his water gun. The blindfolded shooter attempts to squirt as many players as possible with the water gun, eliminating anyone who gets wet. The last person remaining in the circle wins the game.
