Fun Games for Kids Under 10

Children love to be entertained by games. Many of these fun games listed can be played by a group of children or just one child. Games can be fun to facilitate whether in a party setting or for play at home on a boring day. Some games can be played inside or in a backyard. Games for young children should be safe, using fun and colorful items.
  1. Bean bag toss

    • This game is great for younger children and can have the incentive of a prize. It requires a large box or piece of cardboard. The parent should cut several large holes in the box and each child is provided with at least four to six beanbags, or socks filled with cotton can be substituted. The children must toss the beanbags into the holes and receive a prize for the ones that make it into the holes. Prizes can be coloring books, party bags or other gift items.

    Sponge relay

    • Children who love to get wet will love this game. The game begins with the children being divided into two groups. The two groups should stand about 30 feet away from two buckets that have been filled with water. Next place an empty bucket in front of the first person in each line. The first child in each line is given a large sponge. The parent will blow a whistle or yell “go” and the first person in line runs to the bucket of water, dips the sponge, then runs back to the empty bucket and squeezes the water into it. The child then hands the sponge to the next person who repeats the process. The team to get the most water into the bucket after a designated amount of time wins the game. To make the game even more interesting, the parent can require the children to run backward to the water-filled buckets.

    Scavenger hunt

    • Kids will love the scavenger hunt games because it will give them a chance to look for hidden treats. In this game, the parent hides a number of items and creates a written list of the items. The list should be simple for younger children, such as “red ball” or “Barney book.” The list is distributed to each of the children. The children can be divided into groups depending on the number of children who are present. This is a great game for young children because it can be played several different ways. You may hide items in the backyard of a home or the items can even be hidden inside. There should be a designated reward to the child or group of children who finds the majority of the items on the list.
