Things You'll Need
Instructions
Sand the car until it is completely smooth. Start with a rough sandpaper and gradually move to finer and finer grit sandpaper until all edges of the car are smooth to the touch. Rub a soft cloth across the top of the car. If it snags on anything, continue sanding until the cloth no longer snags.
Spray-paint the entire car with primer. Use two thin coats, allowing each coat to dry for two hours.
Examine the camo pattern (see Resources). Outline the pattern on the car with a pencil. Mark the numbers 1, 2 or 3 inside each shape following the pattern guide.
Determine what coloring you want the car to have. Use white, tan and sand colors for desert camo; use green, brown and black for traditional forest camo; use blue, black and white for urban camo. Make any other kind of camo you want with any color combination you like.
Tape off the sections labeled 2 and 3. Spray the exposed sections with the first color. Allow the paint to dry for about 10 minutes. Spray a second coat over the first coat while the paint is still slightly wet. This helps the paint blend better. Allow the paint to dry for two hours.
Remove the masking tape and cover the third and first sections on the car with masking tape. Spray two coats of paint over the exposed section with the second color. Follow the same procedure that you did for the first color to apply two coats of paint. Allow to dry for two hours.
Repeat the process for the third color of paint. Allow the paint to dry for two hours.
Fill in any gaps in the paint with a paintbrush. Dab the color on the car until any holes are covered. Allow to dry for one hour.
Lightly sand the surface of the paint to remove any clumps from the surface. Use the finest grit sandpaper that you have. Use a soft cloth to wipe the paint dust off of the car.
Spray the entire car with a coat of clear top-coat paint. Allow the paint to dry for two hours before use.
