Games to Play at a Sleepover at Night

Sleepovers prove popular with tweens and even teens. An all-night event complete with food, activities and giggles attracts the interest of young people in these age groups. Organizing age-appropriate games that match your guests' interests is one way to occupy your time and entertain sleepover participants.
  1. After-Dark Prize Hunt

    • Before the party, hide different "prizes" of varying value in groups of two outside. Make sure the prizes are age appropriate. For instance, you could hide lollipops or hair accessories for younger kids and fast food coupons or a packs of gum for teens. After dark, divide the guests into teams of two and give each team a flashlight. Turn off the lights outside and let them search for the prizes. To cut down on cost, tell them each team is limited to finding one prize.

    Pillowcase Personalization

    • Provide one white pillowcase per sleepover guest along with fabric pens. Give the guests five minutes to draw a piece of artwork on the case. Give a prize for the most artistic case. Instruct each guest to pass her pillowcase around so that everyone at the sleepover can draw a piece of artwork on it and sign it. Each guest can take her pillowcase home with her the next day as a keepsake.

    Makeover in the Dark

    • Have each guest draw a number to determine who will go first, second, third and so on. Give guest No. 1 a bag of makeup items and instruct her to make over guest No. 2 ... in the dark! Turn off the lights and give the participants three to five minutes to complete the makeover. Turn the lights on and take photos for fun. Continue the game with guest No. 2 making up guest No. 3. The person who drew the last number will apply make up to guest No. 1. Ask a parent or sibling to take a group photo of everyone with their new looks. Hand out makeup removal wipes after the game is over.
