Ghost in the Graveyard
For this outdoor game, assemble the players in the backyard. Select one player from the group to become the "ghost." Pick out an object or space within the yard, such as a lounge chair or a tree, to use as base. Have the ghost go hide somewhere in the yard or field, and have the group count to 100. After the group finishes counting, they all split up to find the ghost. Once a player discovers the ghost, she calls out to the other group members, "Ghost in the Graveyard." Immediately afterward, the whole group rushes to the base you set up in an attempt to evade the ghost as he tries to tag a player. As soon as one player gets tagged by the ghost, he becomes the new ghost in the graveyard and the game starts over.
Ghost Detective
Play this guessing game by first gathering the children into a common area. Pick one of the kids to leave the room as he now serves as the ghost detective. The rest of the group remain in the room as you select a person to play the ghost. Place a sheet over the ghost and bring the ghost detective back into the room. After looking around at the other players and surveying the shape of the ghost, he tries to figure out the player under the sheet. After the Detective guesses correctly, the ghost becomes the new ghost detective. To make the game more difficult, before you bring in the ghost detective once the ghost is under the sheet, send three other players out of the room.
Ghost Hunt
Prior to the game, gather up some lollipops, tissue paper, a black marker and some tape. Wrap the tissue paper around the lollipop and wrap some tape around the base of the pop. Draw a ghostly face on the tissue. Hide these little ghost treats around the play area. Turn off all of the lights in the house and give your kids flashlights. Tell them they have to rid the house of the ghosts by searching for them. Give the kids a while to search for the ghostly treats. The player with the most ghosts caught at the end of the game wins.
