Egg and Spoon Race
If you have a few eggs you need to get rid of before they expire, have your kids play this game. Divide the group of children into teams of two or more of equal amounts of players. Give each team a spoon and an egg. For less messy results, hard-boil the eggs in advance. Line all of the teams up behind a starting point and set up a finish line the kids all have to cross. On the count of three, the first players in each team have to run to the finish point while balancing the eggs on their spoons. After they make it to the finish line, they have to rush back to the starting point and hand off their spoons to the next players in line. If a kid happens to drop an egg, he has to head back to the starting point and begin his turn again. The first team to have all of its players do this wins the game
Sardines
Sardines is a twist on the game, "Hide and Seek." Start out by picking one of the kids to leave the group and find a hiding spot. After the rest of the group has counted to 100, they all separate to find the person who went into hiding. Once a person finds the hidden kid, he joins him. This continues until all of the players but one---the loser---find the missing person. The kid who lost then becomes the new missing person.
Octopus
Gather the kids into a large play area, and pick two players out of the group to stand in the middle and become the Octopusses. All of the other kids stand at one side of the yard. The game begins when you shout "Octopus," and the kids on the sideline have to rush past the two players to make it to the opposite side of the yard. If tagged, a player becomes a seaweed and has to sit in the middle and try to tag the other players without getting up. Continue calling out "Octopus" for several rounds. The game ends when only one player---the winner---remains, having not turned into a seaweed.
