Spell Checkers
Spell Checkers is appropriate for kids ages 5 to 13 years old and can be played with two players or two teams of players. As with regular checkers, players make checkers moves. However, before a move can be made, the player must correctly spell a word that is read by the opposing player. This way, Spell Checkers reinforces spelling skills. The game includes a list of common spelling words with varying levels of difficulty, or you can make your own lists to correspond with school exams.
Quiddler
Quiddler Word Card Game can be played by those aged 8 years old to adult. Playing time is usually anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes, and it can be played with one to eight players. In Quiddler, the objective is to turn all the letters you hold into real words, with one remaining card as the final discard card. You can draw and discard during your turn to try to use high-point letters to score you a higher outcome. Players receive a bonus for the most words in each round and for being the player with the longest word. All of the playing cards have Celtic artwork on them.
Spill and Spell
Spill and Spell is recommend for those aged 8 years old and up. It requires at least one or more players and is a fast-moving spelling game. To play the game, you toss out the 22-letter dice on the game board and then start the one-minute timer. You have to arrange the word dice either horizontally, vertically or in some conjunction to spell as many words as possible. You can keep shaking and dumping the remaining word dice to give you new ideas for words. The scoring is based on how many words you spell and how long each word is. You can also make the game harder by choosing categories or genres that the words must fit into, like "animals" or "action words."
Super Scrabble
Super Scrabble is a high-scoring version of regular Scrabble. Super Scrabble is recommended to players aged 8 years old and up. Two to four players can participate in this game. The game features a larger game board that allows for more spaces and quadruple point squares. This version of Scrabble allows you to add on more words than a standard board. The object of Scrabble is to spell words vertically or horizontally and garner the largest amount of points. Each letter you use to spell a word is assigned a certain amount of points, and you calculate your score by adding up the letters' points.
