How to Build a Carnival Prize Wheel

You can put on a carnival for kids as part of some backyard fun or as an event for school, church or anything else. Have kids take turns at the carnival wheel, where they can win a variety of prizes according to where the arrow lands. This carnival wheel is easy to transport in a car's trunk as long as you are careful to not bend the arrow. The poster carnival wheel can be either hung on a wall or placed on a large table.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a large circular item or a drawing compass to draw a circle on a large piece of poster board. If you try to draw a circle and it is not perfectly round, the wheel will not spin well later.

    • 2

Carefully cut out the circle with a pair of scissors. Use a ruler and divide the circle into pie segments of equal size.

    • 3

Color each section a different color using markers. Take a black marker and write the name of a prize in each section.

    • 4

Make an arrow out of poster board and color it black with a marker. Take a brass paper fastener and push it through the non-pointed end of the arrow and the middle of the circle. Have kids spin the arrow and see which prize it lands on.
