The Measurement Game
This is a great way to teach little kids how to use a measuring stick. Gather different sized stuffed animals (no larger than the measuring stick you choose to use) and have them line up the stuffed animals in no particular order. Use the measuring stick to measure how big each stuffed animal is. Once each stuffed animal is measured, have the kids put the stuffed animals in order of smallest to biggest.
The Animal Game
This game is a variation on Twenty Questions. One child thinks of an animal and then gives clues about that animal. For example, one kid might say, "I'm thinking of an animal that lives in the forest." The other kids then ask questions about the animal until someone guesses what the animal is. To make this game more educational, utilize the Internet to look up information on each animal to learn more about the animal.
The Sorting Game
You can make this game different every time you play because you can choose different ways to sort objects. Choose various objects such as blocks, coins, candy even different colored or sized balls. Have the children sort the objects according to size, or color or even value, if you use coins. For older children, have them sort the objects according to density, depth and color groups.
