Fun Crazy Games for Kids

Every kid loves to make a mess, and what better way to make one than when your parents say you can? Take the mess outdoors and have a blast along with the kids. Dress them in bathing suits or old clothes and let them enjoy a home version of a messy television family game show with food, water and racing games. Play with any sized group, but the more the merrier.
  1. Water Games

    • Water games are particularly fun to fight the heat on a scorching day and still get the kids outside to get some fresh air and exercise. If you have no pool, no problem, try these crazy water games.

Have a water hose fight using two or more long hoses. Try to avoid getting being the first one to get wet. Put an inflated beach ball on top of a target's head and try to shoot it off their head with the hose.

Use fast-action super water guns or small hand-held hand-pumping action water guns and have a water version of paint ball. Set up places to hide behind or use trees, bushes or any other outdoor equipment or vegetation to use as barricades to hide behind. Alternately set up an obstacle course each person has to follow with areas to duck and cover under or behind to try to make it to the end of the obstacle course without getting sprayed.

    Food Games

    • Get out the food for wild food games outside. Fill disposable lightweight pie pans with sprayed whipped cream. Have a pie toss alternating standing human targets or designate a small moving area and have a pie toss war trying to cream members of the opposite team inside the circle or square area.

Line up the kids side by side and bring out a basket of eggs still in the shells. Half of the eggs should be hard-boiled and half uncooked. Let each kid pick an egg from the basket. The leader takes the kid's eggs one at a time and cracks it open on the top their head. The kids either stay clean or get covered in runny egg.
Make another basket of eggs the same way and have an egg toss game trying not to drop the eggs while the kids toss them to each other.

Put together crazy sandwiches by cutting slices of bread in half and rolling them into a tube. Put the insides of the sandwich on the outside of the rolled bread. Add the condiments to the meat or cheese or the jelly to the peanut butter and try to eat them without dripping or dropping any of the contents.

    Races

    • Pair up the kids standing a couple feet apart facing each other. Give them each one end of a 3-foot piece of licorice shoestrings with a hard candy ring threaded onto the middle of the string. Using only their mouths and putting their hands behind their backs, they have to eat their way to the middle and get to the hard candy first.

Sit each kid on the ground or at a picnic table and give them each an equal-sized slice of watermelon with the rind. Without using their hands, have them try to eat the whole piece of watermelon off the rind without touching it.

Set up a kiddie pool full of water or a large plastic tarp sprayed with water and place rubber duckies at the starting line for a rubber ducky race. Use a water gun to make the ducks move along the water soaked runner or in the kiddie pool.
