Fashion Scavenger Hunt
Take the girls out to your backyard or a large park and to search for pre-hidden items in the area. Give them a list of items to find, such as a gold bangle bracelet, a hair accessory, a scarf and a high heel shoe and pair them up to search for items. For an added challenge, have the girls follow clues that lead them to the next item. Clues such as "find your little black dress on the playground where the monkeys play" might lead them to a black dress on the monkey bars. Award the winning team with screen-printed t-shirts or give all players a fashion bag full of make-up and accessories.
Judged Fashion Show
With the popularity of judging paneled television shows such as the Fox Network's "American Idol" and Lifetime Network's "Project Runway" fashion design competition, this is an opportune time to use a similar line-up for fun with teen girls. Set up a panel of judges (parents, older siblings or neighbors) and have the girls coordinate outfits and model on a runway. This idea could be planned as a Sweet 16 birthday party in the backyard, where the guests attending can serve as the audience and a professional tent rental company hired to provide seating and a runway. The show can be broken down into categories based on attire characteristics such as school wear, beach-ready or a wildcard where teens get to show their personalities by choosing their own style of outfit to showcase. Award the winner a trophy and runners-up flowers or an opportunity to speak on stage about their designs.
Online Shopping
For younger teens who may be new to learning the responsibilities of shopping and money, have them play a game where they are given a "budget" of fake money and allow them to go shopping online by selecting items to purchase and print out their ensembles. Winners are the ones who do not go over budget and who have the best ideas for what's trendy and items that work well when put together.
