How to Design Your Own Tree House Scene

Highlights Magazine, a well-known children's publication, has a Web site called highlightskids.com that features games, stories and other activities for kids. One of the games is called Design Your Own Tree House Scene, and it lets children design and print a picture of a scene and tree house they create.

Instructions

  1. Trees

    • 1

      Click the "Trees" board on the menu, which is on the left side of the screen.

      Choose a leaf and the tree it represents. The trees includes Beech, Cottonwood, Willow, Evergreen and Oak.

      Click the leaf. A picture of the tree you selected will appear on the right side of the scene. To change your tree, repeat Steps 1 through 3 in this section.

    Sky

    • 4

      Click the "Sky" plank on the menu, located directly below the "Trees" board.

      Choose one of the four sky varieties. The sky styles are numbered one through four and are: a blue sky with puffy white clouds; a darkening sky with orange clouds; a dusky sky; and a night sky with stars.

      Click on the sky of your choice. The sky in your picture will change to the sky you've selected. To change your sky, repeat Steps 1 through 3 in this section.

    House

    • 7

      Click the "House" plank on the menu, which is located directly below the "Sky" board.

      Choose one of the tree-house styles. The styles are numbered one through three and include a wooden plank tree house; a red shingle tree house; and a gray shingle tree house.

      Click the tree house style you'd like. The tree house will appear over your tree on the right side of the screen. To change your tree-house style, repeat Steps 1 through 3 in this section.

    Extras

    • 10

      Click the "Extras" board on the menu. The "Extras" plank is located directly below the "House" section.

      Choose what you would like to include with your tree house from the list of extras. The extras include a fence, a soccer ball, a dog, a bird, a basket, a blue flag, a tree swing, a door, two different window styles, two different flowers, a "Kidz Only!" sign, a wooden step ladder and a colorful string of lights.

      Click the extras of your choice. The extra will appear right bellow your cursor on the screen.

      Place the cursor wherever you want to put the extra.

      Click the spot in the picture where you want to put the extra. The extra will stay at that place.

      Rotate, resize, flip or delete the extra however you want by clicking on the appropriate tools on the menu. To change the extra, or to select an additional extra, follow Steps 1 through 6 in this section.

    Print

    • 16

      Click the "Print" button on the menu. The "Print" button is located directly above the "Trees" plank and to the right.

    • 17

      A pop-up box will appear with the different printers that are associated with your computer. Select the printer you want.

    • 18

      Click the "Print" button in the pop-up box; the button is located in the lower right-hand corner.
