Frosty Marshmallow Toss Game
Make this easy marshmallow toss snowman game for kids to play. On the bottom of a medium-sized cardboard box, paint a snowman as large as space allows. When paint dries, cut three holes for kids to throw marshmallows through, like a beanbag toss game. Make the holes small, medium and large. Use markers to decorate the snowman. Write numbers---such as 10, 20 and 30---one beside each hole, making the smallest hole worth the most points.
To play the game, kids toss large or miniature marshmallows through the holes in the snowman. Add the points for each child, and give prizes according to the number of points.
Frosty Word Game
Older children who can write can play this Frosty the Snowman word game. Write the phrase "Frosty the Snowman" at the top of several pieces of paper. Have children write words on the paper that come from the letters of the phrase. According to the ages of the children, decide whether the children can use letters more than once. Give hints to younger children. A prize can be given to the one with the most words, or each child can win for playing the game.
Build a Snowman---Blindfold Game
All ages of kids can play a blindfolded build-a-snowman game. Cut out large game pieces to fasten onto a wall with tape. Make three different-sized circles, a hat, eyes, nose, buttons, mouth, and any other features you desire. Place a loop of tape on each of the game pieces. Fasten the largest white circle onto a wall. Place the remaining pieces on a table.
Blindfold a child and have him choose a snowman piece from the table. The child will try to place the snowman piece in the correct spot. Then, another child will take a turn.
For older children, let each child try to build the entire snowman on her turn.
Frosty's Hat Races
Frosty wore a "old silk hat" and ran "with a broomstick in his hand," according to the song. Kids can play a hat race game indoors on a smooth surface, or outdoors if the weather permits. Depending on the size of the group of children, decide whether to have all the kids race at once or form smaller groups to race. Each child racing should have a hat and a broom. Place the hats on the floor at the starting point. On "go," have the children push the hat with the broom to get to the "finish" point.
Snowman Stacks
For each child, push the bottom of a straw into a glob of modeling clay or fun dough so the straw stands up sturdily. Have kids stand around a table. Give each child a standing straw. Give each child the same number of large marshmallows.
On "go," have the kids race to push all the marshmallows onto the straw. Make the game more challenging for older kids by having them put their hands behind their backs and using only their mouths to push the marshmallows onto the straws.
