Love Chase
Love Chase is a game about capturing the heart of someone. The girls and boys divide into two teams, with each player holding a heart of paper, cardboard or other material. One neutral player directs play. The teams line up facing each other about 20 feet apart. The leader chants "Capture, capture, they're falling in love! Whose hearts are captured? It's the (boys'/girls')!" If the leader says that the boys' hearts are captured, then the girls run around and chase them in order to steal the boys' hearts. If the leader says that the girls' hearts are captured, then the boys try to steal the hearts from the girls. Players only have 30 seconds to capture a heart. After the 30 seconds, the leader blows a whistle to stop play and start a new round. Players whose hearts are captured are out of the game. Play continues until all players have had their heart captured.
Serenaders
One romantic gesture that used to be commonplace in medieval times was serenading the person you loved. Serenaders is a game based on that concept. The girls all line up in a row facing the boys. Each boy takes three cards from a deck that have romantic sayings on them (for example, "Your eyes are like rubies"). The boys take turns trying to serenade the girls with one of their cards. The boys don't need to be able to sing--they just need to be able to present the saying in a romantic, serenading way. The girls decide as a team whether they like the saying on the card or if the boy has to try again with another of his cards. If the boy is accepted on the first try, he gets three points. If he is accepted with the second card, he gets two points. If he's accepted on the third card, he gets one point. After each round, new cards are picked. When all the cards are gone, points are totaled and the boy with the most points wins.
Circle Dance
Circle Dance is a dance game that pairs boys and girls together. The girls gather together in a circle. The boys form a circle outside the girls' circle. A leader plays some music and the boys and girls walk in opposite directions in the circles so that the circles rotate. When the leader stops the music, the boy and girl who are nearest to each other in the circles form a pair. The pairs then share a fun dance.
