The Little Mermaid Board Game 3D
The Little Mermaid Board Game 3D is based on the Disney cartoon film, featuring a 3D game board. The goal of this game is to turn Ariel into a human, and thus win the game. Yet, you'll encounter obstacles along the way.
On your turn, you spin the spinner and advance your fish piece around the track to the color you've spun. If you land on an Ariel space, you move the Ariel piece one step up the ocean backdrop; this moves her closer to being with Prince Eric. If you land on an evil fish space, you are captured and place the evil fish piece next to your fish. You must then wait for another player to land on the evil fish space. The first player to move Ariel onto the top step and into human form wins.
The Little Mermaid: Under the Sea Card Game
The Little Mermaid: Under the Sea Card Game, featuring Ariel and her friends, is appropriate for ages 3 and up. No reading is required. The object of the game is to help Ariel collect her sea friends and learn about colors, shapes and patterns. The game starts simple with matching, then moves up to patterns. It leads to repeating patterns by building shapes. This is a great mermaid game to build problem solving and mathematical skill concepts.
Mermaid Rain
Mermaid Rain is a board game created by Hitoshi Yasuda and Keiji Kariya that is sold through the Board Game Geek Website. This game is most suitable for children ages 10 and up, as some of the rules can be confusing for younger players. If properly supervised, younger kids can also play.
The game is played by moving around the sea collecting goods, of which there are five different types. Using wave tiles, the players move around the board collecting their goods. This game is slightly more complex than typical board games that only require you roll the dice and move. Although it is a mermaid game, the game pieces are typical plastic pawns, and the only real mermaid appears on the box, which would surely upset the younger players.
Mermaid Law
In the folklore of mermaids, a human is not allowed to see a mermaid. If he does, they both must be killed. To play the game rendition of Mermaid Law, you have to be somewhere where you can swim, whether that be a pool, lake or ocean. The game is essentially a rendition of Marco Polo, where the human player shuts her eyes. The other "mermaids" then swim around trying not to be caught.
If a human catches a mermaid, she yells, "I see you mermaid," and that mermaid becomes the next human player. She must shut her eyes and chase the other mermaids.
