Children's Airplane Games

Children often foster a love for all things transportation, including planes, trains and automobiles. Encourage their love of aviation by playing fun airplane games. Keep the age of the children in mind to tailor games to their abilities. Play the games with a crowd at a party, or tweak the games for individual play.
  1. Paper Airplane Game

    • The paper airplane game is fun for one child or a group. Make some paper airplanes and let children decorate them with markers, stickers and other art supplies. Set up an obstacle course for the children to navigate with the planes. Hang hula hoops and rings of other sizes from a tree or the ceiling. The children will then need to successfully launch airplanes through the hoops.

    Fly Around the World

    • This game combines geography and aviation and can be a fun learning game. You'll need a large wall map. Cut a small airplane out of paper or use a small folded paper airplane. Call out the name of a country and have the child "fly" his plane to the country. You can make it more or less challenging depending on the child. Young children will be able to fly to Australia, while older children can be more challenged with instructions such as "fly to the country whose capital is Stockholm."
This can also be played with a group of children. First one to fly to the destination wins.

    Musical Airplanes

    • Musical airplanes is a version of musical chairs with an aviation theme. Print out or draw pictures of airplanes, one for each child minus one. Place the print-outs in a circle on the floor large enough for children to walk around. Play music with an aviation theme. Have children walk around the printouts until the music stops. When the music stops, each child must sit on an airplane. Whoever is left without a seat is out. Remove one airplane and continue until you have a winner. This is a great game to play with a crowd. Children of all ages can participate in this twist on a classic.
