Pirate Treasure Hunt
Pirate treasure hunt games are fun for both boys and girls. To play this game, hide pirate treasures like fake gold chains, coils and swords all over the back yard. Be sure to put these items in not so obvious places to make the game more interesting and fun. The kids can even dress up in pirate costumes while they look for the gold.
This is a great game for parties and other fun activities. You can even give the children clues or riddles to find the treasure. One clue can also lead to the next, so each time the children find one piece of treasure, they also get a clue with it to help them find the next one.
Cowboys and Indians
Cowboys and Indians is another exciting adventure game for kids. This game involves a lot of role playing. Half of the kids dress up like Indians and the other half like cowboys. You can incorporate various activities with this theme, like tug-of-war with a rope or even scavenger games like the pirate game. You can also ask the Indians to hide cowboy items and the cowboys to hide Indian items. The team that finds the most items first, wins.
Army Paint Ball
Army paint ball is another outdoor adventure game that is better suited for pre-teens or teenagers. If you host this game, be sure all the kids follow safety rules and wear protective eye and chest gear. You can have girls against boys, or split up teams. They hit each other with paint balls while dressed in army gear. You can create hiding places and get as creative as you like.
Cave Man Soccer
Cave man soccer is another simple, fun, outdoor adventure game. If your kids love to play soccer and you have all the equipment, you can create cave-like soccer goals and tape thick paper bags several times around your ball with clear tape so the ball looks more like a rock.
You can make goals look like caves by covering the goals with large sections of crinkled brown paper found at the craft store. You can also use paint to draw ancient cave designs and writing on the goals. If you don't have a metal soccer goal as your basic foundation, create your own by lining up four chairs side by side, and then place two chairs in front of the two chairs at the very end. Cover the chairs in blankets to disguise their shape and then follow up with brown paper. Use clear tape. This game is ideal for a dinosaur party. The kids can dress up like cave people to make the game even more fun.
