TV to the Web
If your child has a favorite television show, that show may have an online site. Pbskids.org has a site full of favorite characters from Clifford to Arthur and Curious George. Each show has games to play that teach valuable skills in addition to being fun.
Nick.com is another option. This site has games for slightly older kids, featuring characters like SpongeBob Squarepants and the cast of iCarly. For younger children, NickJr.com has games with characters like Dora the Explorer and the Wonder Pets.
Playhouse Disney fans can visit PlayhouseDisney.com for games from characters like Handy Manny and Imagination Movers.
Yahoo!
Yahoo! has a site dedicated to games for kids, including trailers for upcoming video games and links to other sites. Children may play games for boys and girls of all ages and interest levels through Yahoo's site links. Kids can learn to be eco-friendly with Habitat Heroes or paint nails with the Charm Girls Club.
Some of Yahoo's game offerings are just for fun, while others include a learning element. You can even use the tabs at the top of the page to navigate by the game style, from arcade to cards to board and tile options.
FunBrain
FunBrain.com contains games for kids featuring learning skills and favorite characters. Kids can improve their skills with the Math Arcade or Grammar Gorillas. They can read comic book style stories online or let parents get in on the fun using the Parents & Kids Playground feature.
FunBrain also allows you to find a game by grade to make sure that the games your child plays are appropriate for her level of development and understanding. This will help her improve her skills for school while having fun at the same time.
