How to Make Your Own Cartoon Games

Creating a cartoon game is a great way to connect and spend quality time with your child as well as to create a game that is specific to the child and his interests. The cartoon should have enough characters and items to coordinate with the game. Choose the game and the cartoon prior to beginning construction. Be sure the game rules are appropriate to the age of the intended players and not too complicated for them to play on their own.

Instructions

  1. Create Custom Cartoon Checkers

    • 1

Color a sturdy piece of cardboard into the format of a checkerboard, with approximately 1-inch by 1-inch squares.

    • 2

Switch up the colors from the traditional black and red to your child's favorite colors or signature colors of the intended cartoon.

    • 3

Pick two characters and draw them on small, checker-sized game pieces. Create at least 12 of the pieces for each side, 24 total.

    • 4

Glue the character pieces onto buttons to make game pieces sturdier and more stable.

    Homemade Twister

    • 5

Create a custom Twister game that incorporates cartoon characters instead of colors. Cut a durable piece of light-colored tarp or sturdy plastic into a 4-foot by 4-foot square.

    • 6

Choose four or five cartoon characters and draw each one approximately five times inside a dessert-plate sized circle on the plastic.

    • 7

Cut a 1-foot by 1-foot square of cardboard and color it. Draw a circle in the center and around the circle, draw a small depiction of each cartoon character.

    • 8

Insert a small stick, such as a piece of a paper clip, through the center of the cardboard. Cut out a cardboard arrow and poke the stick through its center.

    • 9

Secure the arrow onto the stick by bending the stick over it in a half loop. Test the arrow to make sure it spins correctly. You may need to twist it to widen the hole for the stick initially.
