Trivia
Bible trivia has long been a staple of Christian games, and is one game that is easily adapted to be suitable for teens. In addition, there are a variety of ways to play. You can have teens split into teams and write their own questions to ask of other teams, you can set up buzzers and have two teams competing against each other like a Bible bowl or you can transform it into a board game similar to Trivial Pursuit. Trivia doesn't have to encompass the entire Bible. You can focus on specific aspects, such as the life of Jesus or certain books. And it doesn't have to be limited to only the Bible either. Church history, foundational Christian doctrine, church leaders, or even hymns and psalms are all suitable Christian trivia topics.
Word Puzzles
Bible-based or Christian word searches and crossword puzzles are also popular with teens, as they present a mental challenge and can be done alone or with a group. Many Christian-oriented and homeschooling websites offer word searches, crossword puzzles and other appropriate word puzzles that can be printed free for use by individuals or church youth groups. Alternatively, you can create your own from your imagination or by using computer software that lets you fill in the words you want and then creates the puzzle for you.
Cards & Board Games
Several companies manufacture Christian card games and board games, many of which are appropriate for teens. Apples to Apples, Outburst, Scattergories and Guesstures all offer Bible editions that are similar to their original versions, and Bibleopoly is based on the popular game Monopoly. Christian board games include Inheritance, The Journeys of Paul, Solomon's Temple and Teen Choices. Redemption and Timestream are card games that teens can enjoy. Check with a Christian bookstore or an online Christian bookstore for more Christian card games and board games.
Electronic Games
A number of Christian video/computer games are built for teens, and some of them are are based on popular video games. Dance Praise and Guitar Praise, for instance, are based on Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Christian role-playing games include Adam's Venture, Left Behind: Eternal Forces and The Axys Adventures: Truth Seeker--and are excellent Christian alternatives to secular RPGs. Again, check with Christian bookstores, either online or locally, for a more extensive list of what games are available. Additionally, a number of websites offer simpler Christian games that you can play online for free, some of which may be suitable for teens.
