Water Balloon Toss
Have the youth group break into teams of two players each. Fill several water balloons for each team. Have the players stand two to three feet apart and toss the balloon back and forth. After each player has thrown and caught the balloon once each player takes a step backward and tosses again. When a team bursts their balloon, they are out. The team who gets the farthest distance without popping a balloon is declared the winner. Players should trade partners and repeat the game for additional rounds.
Water Bucket Relay
Divide the group into two or three teams, depending on the size of the group. Set up a starting area near a water hose to ensure the teams have access to a water source. Each team will need a large bucket and a smaller cup or bowl to carry water in. The large bucket should be placed 40 to 50 feet away from the starting point. The first person in line will place the small bowl on their head and the second person will fill it with water.
When all teams are ready, give the command to start. The water carrier will move as quickly as possible to the large bucket and drop their water in it. The first player then returns the small bowl to the next player in line to repeat the process. The first team to fill the large bucket with water wins the game.
Water Gun Wars
Instruct each member of the youth group to bring a water pistol and some clothes they won't mind staining. Fill two small pools with water and dye each pool a different color using a safe, non-toxic food coloring. Divide the group into two teams. Each team will have a safe zone around their pool that acts as a "home base." Using their team's colored water, players will attempt to score points by shooting players on the opposite team. When a player is hit they will sit out until the rest of their team has been eliminated. Enhance the game by adding water balloon grenades filled with each teams color.
