How to Make My Own Trading Cards

Trading cards have been around for a long time. Kids can have fun making cards to trade with their friends. Base them on a themes like sports, games, art or other interests. Materials are easy to find and anything goes. Get a group of kids together to make cards, then have a trading party.

  • 8.5" by 11" cardstock
  • Digital Camera
  • Computer
  • Stickers or other embellishments as needed

Instructions

  1. Personalized Cards

    • 1

      Take a photograph of each child, emphasizing their personality or interests with props or clothing. Download photos onto you computer.

      Using Microsoft Word or any other word processing program, imagine the blank page as dissected into four quarters. Click on the column button and select two columns. Start in the upper left hand quarter.

      Click on "Insert" in the menu bar and select "insert picture." At the "Browse" prompt, locate one of the photos you have taken. Insert the photo. Size so that you can fit four on the page.

      Add captions identifying the child by name or nickname. Make sure this info fits in the upper left quadrant. Highlight the entire area and click on "Copy."

      Position your cursor to the lower left hand quarter, directly beneath the card you just made and click on "Paste." Click on the "Enter" key to find yourself at the top, right hand quarter and click on "Paste" two more times, filling out the rest of the page. You should now have four exact copies. Print and cut the cards.
