Magic Cupcakes
Turn the girls into magical fairies, ready to bake a batch of fairy cupcakes. See who can make the most magical cupcake of them all and provide the girls with plenty of toppings and frosting. Bake a batch of oversized vanilla cupcakes using store bought vanilla-cake mix or use your favorite vanilla-cake homemade recipe.
Purchase a bevy of toppings such as sparkly sprinkles, pastel M&Ms, maraschino cherries, sugared fruit slices and pre-made sugar flowers. Add food coloring to the store bought vanilla frosting so the girls have several choices of frosting colors. Another option is to make your own frosting. Whisk 1/3 cup of butter, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 3 to 4 tablespoons of milk and 3 ½ cups of powdered sugar. Clear a workspace for your little fairies so they can create magical cupcakes. Buy special magic wands from a local dollar or Disney store to help the girls turn their masterpiece into magic.
Fairy Surprise Breakfast
Fairies make breakfast and leave a huge mess the morning of your child's sleepover. Read your daughter's favorite fairy book before everyone is tucked into their beds and sleeping bags. Then tell them a story about how, when you were little, fairies came into your house and made you breakfast. Add that it was exciting, but that you didn't think that happened anymore.
Wait until the girls drift off to sleep and mess up your kitchen! Purchase a variety of pre-baked goodies such as mini cupcakes, bagels, cream cheese and donuts to leave as the girls' breakfast. Sprinkle glitter around your kitchen to leave as evidence that the fairies were at your house and fashion a small pair of wings out of wax paper, glue and glitter. Leave one wing in one area of the kitchen and the other wing in another area. Act surprised when the girls wake up to see the mess.
Fairy Dust Tea
Hold a fairy tea party and give the girls' tea a dash of magical fairy dust. Purchase a few cups of candy powder or colored sugar from the local bulk candy store to be your fairy dust. Most candy powder is sour so just a dash will do the trick. Pour the candy powder into a small sugar bowl so the girls won't know it's from the bulk candy store.
Hold a tea party using special tiny teacups and Kool Aid as your tea. Serve an Australian childhood favorite---fairy bread. Have the girls make their own fairy bread. Simply spread a little butter on a piece of plain white bread and top it with sprinkles.
Announce that it's time to serve magical fairy dust during tea time. Tell them that the magic fairy dust will give them sweet dreams tonight and that they may be visited by their own guardian fairy.
