Crazy Eye Shadow
Break out all your different colored eye shadows and allow the kids to face paint with them. Set up mirrors and give them a variety of makeup brushes to use. Let them go completely crazy. Encourage them to make animal faces like tiger stripes, cheetah spots or kitty whiskers. When they are done creating their faces, the kids can pose for a silly photo shoot. Be sure to get some close-up shots of each child's masterpiece.
Princess Lessons
Teach your daughter to use makeup properly by having "Princess Lessons." Show her the proper way to use lipstick, eye shadow, mascara and blush. Apply your own makeup while she watches. Then, let her attempt to do her own face. When she is done, the two of you can get dressed up and practice other parts of being a princess, such as standing and sitting with good posture and dancing. End your princess lessons with a tea party.
Finger Paint
Everyone has makeup that has been sitting around too long. Eye shadows start to break into pieces, mascara gets clumps and lipstick colors don't look as good on your lips as you thought. Take all that old makeup and let the kids use it to finger paint. They can use mascara wands, blush brushes and their own fingers to create artwork. This both recycles your old makeup and saves you money on buying the kids paints. Everybody wins.
Put It On Paper
Use a photo-editing program to turn close-up photos of you and your daughter into coloring pages. Print out multiple copies of the photos. Take out your makeup case and brushes and show your child how to put on blush, lipstick and eye shadow by applying it to the coloring page versions of yourselves. Try out different colors on each coloring page and then decide which colors you like best.
