Marvel Games for Kids

The Marvel Universe includes some of the most beloved super heroes of all time: Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America and many more. They make great fodder for children's parties and you can give your son or daughter's birthday a special touch by integrating them into classic kids' games. Most of them can be put together with nothing more than a color printer and a few household objects.
  1. Web-Sling the Bad Guys

    • Spider-Man uses his webs to tangle up any villains who get in his path. You can turn this into a fun tossing game using bean bags or tennis balls. Print out color pictures of various Spider-Man foes like The Green Goblin and Dr. Octopus, then glue each one to an empty 2-liter soda bottle. Place the bottles at varying intervals in the yard, then let the kids take turns "web-slinging" them by throwing the bean bags or tennis balls at them. The further away the soda bottle, the more points won by knocking it over. The winner is the child who scores the most points.

Pin the Star on the Shield

    • This variant of Pin the Tail on the Donkey entails Captain America's famous shield, which has a star in the middle of it. Print out a copy of his shield, or draw it yourself if you'd like. Then cut up a series of white stars which go in the center. Blindfold each child one by one and have them try to place their star as close to the middle as possible. The child who gets the closest wins.

You can use other variants of this based on your child's favorite Marvel superhero. For instance, Pin the Hammer on Thor can use hammer cut-outs, with the children trying to get closest to Thor's outstretched right hand. Pin the Claws on Wolverine can involve cut-outs of Wolverine's super-sharp claws, with victory going to the child who gets his closest to his hands.

    Hunt Dr. Doom

    • Hunt Dr. Doom is a variation on the classic game of Treasure Hunt, whereby you scatter a bunch of clues around the house that lead to a final treasure. Each clue along the path points to the location of the next clue (under the kitchen sink, for example, or beneath a bedroom pillow). All you need to do to give it a Marvel twist is place an image of Dr. Doom--a brilliant scientist who enjoys challenging the intellect of his superheroic foes--onto each clue. (If you can, you can phrase the clues the way Dr. Doom would--speaking in the third-person, expounding upon plans for domination, etc.) The kids then follow the clues to track him to his "castle," where their prize awaits.
