Cute Games for Girls

Girls, like boys, love to interact and play games. During recess you may find a wide range of games and activities girls are participating in.
  1. Dress-up Dolls

    • Girls love to play with dolls because it allows them to imitate a grown-up woman in an imaginative environment. Girls will enjoy playing with actual dolls and dollhouses- both in person and, now, online. Dress Up Games (see Resources), for instance, is a website dedicated to fun dress-up game for girls.

    Hopscotch

    • Girls design a hopscotch course that includes a series of blocks or squares in which the participants must jump through. The squares are numbered in an order you must follow. A "home" square is at the end of course and defines the final destination or "safe point." Hopscotch is one of the most common games for girls at the local elementary school.

    Jump Rope

    • Girls can jump rope either alone with a single rope or with a double rope. They can add an extra dimension by hollering out phrases or singing songs as they jump. The Games Kids Play website (see References) offers an example: "Apples, peaches, pears, and plums/ Tell me when your birthday comes/" followed by the declaration of each month of the year. Each girl inside the jump rope stops her skipping and leaves the middle once her month is said.

    Sports

    • Volleyball, softball and kickball are team sports for groups of four to 20 girls. Tetherball is designed more for one or two girls and is popular in elementary school.

    Clapping/Rhythm Games

    • Girls enjoy clapping and other rhythm games that also include singing and/or rhyming. Such games are require nothing else to play except for a partner. Several variations and simple rhymes exist, such as "A Sailor Went to Sea." Clap to the rhythm of the song and you have just played a clapping game. Create your own rhymes to really expand the imagination.
