Pin the Trunk on the Elephant
Pin the tail on the donkey is perhaps one of the most classic party games, but make it pin the trunk on the elephant. Draw or buy a big elephant and detach its trunk. Place a piece of double-sided tape on the back of the trunk, blindfold the child, spin him or her around three times, and then allow him or her to attempt to pin the trunk on the elephant. The party guest who gets the closet is the winner. Check your party store as it may have a pin the trunk or tail on the elephant kit.
Push the Peanut Races
Talk to the kids about how the elephant uses its trunk much the way humans use their hands. Create a start line on concrete, carpet, or tile flooring with a piece of tape and about 10 feet away create a finish line. Give each child a peanut in the shell and have him or her put it on the ground in front of him or her at the start line. Instruct the children to get on their hands and knees, becoming elephants, and on your go they will push the peanut using only their nose to the finish line. The first elephant across the finish line with their peanut is the winner.
The Elephant Walk
Create a course that has a start line, an obstacle such as a tree, and a finish line. Separate the children into two teams of the same number, if possible. Have the first child in each team reach one arm forward as his or her trunk and the other through his or her legs as the tail. The child behind the first child will do the same, grabbing a hold of the first child's tail and extending his or her other arm back through his or her legs. This pattern will continue until there is a line of elephants connected tail to trunk. Instruct the teams of elephants to walk the course, keeping their tails and trunks together. The first team that makes it to the finish line still intact wins the race.
