Team Fairy Tale
Do a Team Fairy Tale. It can be played with as few as two people, but it becomes a lot more fun when the number grows. This game allows children to make up their own fairy tales, which encourages the use of imagination.
Start off with a couple of sentences such as, "Once upon a time there was an ordinary man that discovered the most extraordinary thing." The next person then continues on from there. "He discovered a coat that had all sorts of magical powers." The next person then picks it up from there. The best part is you never know where it is going to lead.
Fairy Tale Jeopardy
Another good idea is Fairy Tale Jeopardy. Compose questions about the children's favorite fairy tales and place them into categories. Award points for each question. The child with the most points at the end of the game wins. If your kids are older, have them answer in question form; you can also include daily double questions and have the kids wager their points.
Printable Fairy Tale
Familyfun.go.com offers a printable fairy tale game. A story is written with blanks in it that the children have to fill in. If you are feeling ambitious, you can also create your own fairy tale with blanks. Kids will love trying to figure out words to put in the blank spots. This activity will also help improve their vocabulary and writing skills.
Write It
Have the children write their own fairy tales. Hold a brainstorming session before they begin. Encourage them to add illustrations if they'd like to.
Be Young Again
