Online Games
In today's technologically savvy world, even young children have learned how to use the Internet. There are a variety of games that children can play online featuring Dora, Blue and Diego. NickJr.com is one website to find such games and activities. "Dora's Matching Game" is essentially a game of memory. The object is to find as many matches in as few turns as possible. There are three levels to this game, with the first level having six cards, the second level having 12 and the third level having 24. Once all the matches have been found, a picture is revealed. Use this game to help your child with counting skills (have her count the number of matches she finds) and memory skills. There are many other Dora games and activities online such as "Dora's Adventure Dress-Up" where your child will pick from clothes, shoes and accessories in Dora's closet and decide what to dress her up in for her next adventure.
Your child will practice shapes, numbers and letters with "Blue's Gold Clues Challenge." Your child will board the train and get off at three different stops. When she stops in Numbers Kingdom, she will need to identify colors and count the puppies to get the correct number. Alphabet City requires her to fill in the missing letters of the alphabet. When the train stops in Shapes Forest, she will use the mouse to drag the missing shapes to where they belong. Upon completing each stop correctly, she will earn a Gold Clue. When the train ride is over, the Gold Clues result in a jigsaw puzzle that your child puts together to reveal one of Sprinkles' favorite things. "Blue's Instrument Sound Matching" is a Blue's Clues game that will teach your child about the sounds that different instruments make. A certain musical note will be played and your child has to match the sound with the correct instrument.
Your child can explore the Arctic with Diego while learning shapes, colors and animals in "Diego's Arctic Rescue Game." This game involves your child helping Diego to find two baby polar bears that have floated into the Arctic on ice. Your child will leap over ice floes by recognizing colors and shapes, hop on the back of a beluga whale, and swim across the Arctic channel to rescue the baby polar bears. Fun animal facts are mentioned throughout the game.
Board Games
Many of the traditional board games are now featured with some favorite characters such as Dora the Explorer and Diego. "Dora Candy Land" features Boots, Diego, Backpack and Dora racing the Candy Land trail to get to the fiesta. The "Dora Memory Game" features cards with Dora and her pals Boots, Diego, Backpack and more. Flip a card over and try to get a match. The player with the most matches once all of the cards have been paired is the winner. Play "Chutes and Ladders" with the Go, Diego, Go Edition and climb your way to the finish line with Diego and his animal pals. Watch out for the chutes, though, or you will be sliding toward the start instead.
"Blue's Clues Game: Joe Edition" is a game that involves traveling through Blue's room searching for clues and figuring out the links among them. Use the Handy-Dandy Notebook to draw the clues when you find them. If you land on an activity space, you may have to dance or give a high-five. This board game is ideally played with children and parents together.
